Keep My Granddaughter Free!
Girl Scouts
The Boy Scouts are in financial trouble, desperate for membership so they plan to seduce girls away from the Girl Scouts.
My second grade granddaughter's freedom is at stake. Although she's a card-carrying Brownie, she could be lured over to the Boy Scout dark side. Help keep her free to bloom into womanhood, away from male harassment and domination. Resist the Boy Scouts!
Why are the Boy Scouts in such perilous straights? Churches, their original sponsor affiliates, are abandoning them because of numerous sex abuse cases. They decided in 2013, finally, that gay and transgender leaders might be OK. However, tradition, gender identity and religion continue to drag them down. Instead of standing up, brushing themselves off and reinventing themselves with a modern message and mission for boys, they're diluting their mission, re-branding themselves to Scouts USA and launching campaigns to enlist girls.
Will girls be put in junior auxiliary dens (should I dare say separate but equal?) or will girls be mixed with boy members, forced to sublimate themselves to male domination, bullying and testosterone-driven stupidity? Neither approach is acceptable.
Instead of becoming more attractive to a broader range of boys, the Boy Scouts are waging war on the Girl Scouts, making Girl Scouts the enemy of Boy Scout success, destroying years of partnership.
When I was a kid, I was a Brownie then a Girl Scout, staying in the organization all the way through high school. It helped make me who I am today. Girl Scouts don't care what religion, race or gender identity a girl is. They welcome all girls, embracing diversity. It's all about becoming strong, independent thinking, skilled and financially healthy modern women able to make decisions without male approval. Their mission is to support girls, end of story!
The Girl Scouts is a place where our granddaughter can learn team work and collaboration, be free from harassment, and have fun being a girl while she explores the potential of careers in STEM ( science, technology, engineering, and mathematics), camping and an array of interests. The Girl Scout organization has evolved as women's roles in today's society have evolved. It's a pace setting organization, not a laggard organization like the Boy Scouts.
